Η ζουμερή σάρκα των Μυδιών θεωρείται από τους Αρχαίους εξαιρετική αφροδισιακή τροφή. Αρκετές συνταγές όπως αχνιστά ,σοτέ ,με ριζότο, μακαρονάδες ,σαγανάκι ,σούπες ,τηγανιτά κ.λπ. Απαραίτητα μαζί με ούζο, κρασάκι, τσίπουρο, τσικουδιά!!!
Τα παλιά χρόνια ο ταραμάς σε πολλά μέρη της Ελλάδας αντικαταστούσε το ψάρι. Συνήθως το Σάββατο ήταν μια μέρα που το έτρωγαν. Έτσι οι άνθρωποι έβρισκαν λύσεις με να τον τηγανίσουν ή να φτιάξουν σαλάτα ή μια σάλτσα!!!
Πολλοί άνθρωποι νομίζουν ότι η ταραμοσαλάτα έχει την τιμητική της την Καθαρή Δευτέρα. Λάθος………… Την καθαρή Δευτέρα δεν τρώμε λάδι ,οπότε τρώμε μόνο ταραμά .Ταραμοσαλάτα τρώμε τις υπόλοιπες ημέρες Σαρακοστής που επιτρέπεται το λάδι.
Το τηγάνι “τέγανον” ή “σάγανον” , για τους βυζαντινούς “στέγανον” ήταν ένα σκεύος μεταλλικό ή πήλινο στο οποίο τηγάνιζαν. Από το σκεύος αυτό πήρε το όνομα το λιωμένο τυρί, το σαγανάκι.
